The answer to this question is not black and white. Supplements and medication can be perceived by the body as food, initiate digestion, and therefore interrupt the fast. Many pills have fillers that contain sugar (e.g. maltodextrin) that will raise insulin and break the fast.
I suggest you work with your health care practitioner to identify supplements that won’t break the fast. Or take your supplements in your eating window.
Additionally, I would never advise my patients on skipping or delaying their physician-prescribed medications. Everyone is unique and you have to find a way to make IF fit into your lifestyle.
